Austin L. Johnson

Austin L. Johnson passed away at his home on Jan. 30, 2014.

He was born March 18, 1942 to the late Hazel and Arthur O. Johnson in Havre, Mont. Austin graduated from Havre High School in 1960 and attended Northern Montana College in Havre and American River Jr. College in Sacramento, Calif. He also proudly served our country in the Army from 1966-1969, stationed in Vietnam and Germany. Austin married Pamela Orlicek Johnson on Jan. 3, 1976, in Reno, Nev.

They lived happily together in Rudyard, Billings and Havre.

His love of flying and working on airplanes at the Havre City-County Airport led him to a career of Aerial Application. He also loved working with his dad out on their farm north of Havre.

He was preceded in death by his parents Hazel G. Johnson Waid and Arthur O. Johnson, and siblings Manford and Arlene.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Pam; and his siblings, Lois Purkett (Dan), Merton (Mary Rowe), Neal,Chester and Owen (Shannon).

Austin was a member of the Van Orsdel United Methodist Church in Havre. Flying was a very special thing to him, and he also enjoyed reading about Montana and world history. Austin enjoyed music of all kinds and enjoyed traveling the back roads of Montana. He was a very generous and sensitive man and loved his little dog Misty.

of his loyal friends, who came to visit him - your visits helped brighten up his life. He was also grateful to those of you who modified his clothing and medical equipment to suit his personal needs.

The wonderful care he received from all of his devoted and caring caregivers was truly a blessing from God. You all will have a special place in heaven for all the good work that you do.

There will be no funeral service at Austin's request. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make donations to Special Olympics Montana, Hill County Library Endowment Fund or McLaughlin Research Institution for Multiple Sclerosis Research. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements have been made with Edwards Funeral Home of Chinook.
