Curt was born on April 20, 1928, to Ralph and Cecelia (Jacoby) Nordgulen in Detroit Lakes, Minn. He was raised in Detroit Lakes and graduated from high school there. He married Jean Weyh in 1951 and the union was blessed with three children. The couple lived in Havre for a few years before they relocated to Oregon, where Curt worked for Lindsey Soft Water. In 1970 they moved to Columbus, Mont., where they remained for quite a few years. Curt obtained his master plumbers license while living in Columbus, operating Nordgulen Plumbing & Heating. The Norgulen's returned to Havre in 1977 where Curt continued his plumbing career. Jean passed away in 1984. In 1992, Curt and Betty Pollington began a relationship that spanned 20 years, until Betty died in 2012.

Curt was a fun loving, playful man who was always joking, but he also had a serious side. Curt and Betty loved to travel in their motorhome. He enjoyed caring for their yard and garden, but he especially loved spending time with the grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; his very special friend, Betty Pollington; his parents; his daughter, Marcia Resli; and his daughter-in-law, Rhonda Nordgulen.

Curt is survived by his daughter, Mari VanSlyke; his son, Marcus Nordgulen; his grandchildren, Cassie and Cody VanSlyke, and Keifer Nordgulen, all of Havre; his sister, Lois Davis of Tacoma, Wash .; and several nieces and nephews.
