Bus service drops in-town charges due to cold weather

The director of the local busing service said in an emailed announcement this morning that, due to the frigid arctic air blasting into north-central Montana, the in-town routes will run free of charge through Friday.

“Enjoy a warm, comfortable safe ride to your medical, shopping and many other destinations identified on the schedule,” North Central Montana Transit Director Jim Lyons said in the release. “Please contact 265-4762 with any questions you may have.”

National Weather Service predicts lows from minus 17 tonight through 6-below-zero Friday, with highs ranging from minus 2 tonight to 12 above Friday.

Normally, the charge for the in-town route is $1 per ride.
