Peterson calls for ideas on future, use of Beaver Creek

Meeting set for Monday, Feb. 17

Hill County Commissioner Mark Peterson is looking for people’s thoughts on the future of Beaver Creek Park.

Peterson said Wednesday that a meeting is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 17, at the Hill County Electric Hospitality Room west of Havre on U.S. Highway 2, starting at 6 p.m.

People will be given an opportunity to express their ideas on what they want the park to be, Peterson said.

“Do we want to keep the park for just local use or do we want to share with the world?” Peterson asked.

He said 90 percent of the use of the park takes place on 5 percent of the more-than 10,000 acres comprising Beaver Creek Park.

“Do we want to develop more of the park?” he asked. “How do we want the park to look?”

Peterson said no decisions will be made at the meeting, which is being held to collect ideas and information, and asked that people come to express their wishes and ideas.

“The questions above are only suggested ideas to spark ideas,” he added.

He said people are welcome to bring printed material or testimony to the meeting, adding that the comments made will be recorded for future reference. Each person will have a limited time to speak to allow time for all to express their views, he said.
