Northern C: Box Elder wins divisional championship

Make it 23-0 and a third championship for the Box Elder Bears. Friday night at the Four Seasons Arena, the Bears beat the Denton-Geyser-Stanford Bearcats 63-30 to claim the Northern C crown.

The Bears were never threatened by the Bearscats, who also advanced to state as Highwood placed third and can't challenge on Saturday night. In fact, Box Elder won all three Northern C games by more than 10 points and became the only the second 9C team to win the Northern C in the last seven years.

In other area games Friday, the Chinook girls lost to Belt in the girls Northern C semifinals, and will play rival North Star in a loser-out game Saturday morning. The Huskies beat the Sugarbeeters 44-40 and will face Winnett-Grass Range in the championship game. North Star stayed alive by beating Fort Benton 51-40 in a loser-out game Friday morning.
