Skylights officially headed to NAIA national tournament, Lights in too

For weeks now, it looked as though the Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team was locked in to the NAIA national tournament. On Wednesday afternoon, it became official.

Northern received an at-large bid to the national tournament, which runs March 19-25 in Franfort, KY. MSU-N is making its first appearance at the national tourney since 2005, and its second under head coach Chris Mouat. The also finished ranked No. 21 in the last NAIA Coaches Poll, also released today.

Meanwhile, the MSU-Northern men's team is headed to Kansas City for the 2014 NAIA national tourney. MSU-N is 23-8 overall and finished No. 23 in the last NAIA Coaches Poll.

The Lights have now gone to five national tournaments in the last six seasons under head coach Shawn Huse.

The brackets for both the men's and women's tournaments will be announced at 6 p.m. tonight.
