State A Update: Havre knocks down Laurel, will play for state title

GREAT FALLS - The Havre Blue Ponies are 32 minutes away from their first state championship in girls basketball in 17 years. On Friday night at the Four Seasons Arena, the Blue Ponies dominated defending state champion Laurel 43-28 in the Class A semifinals.

Led by Brandy Lambourne's sensational 19 points and four 3-pointers, and a relenting man defense, Havre moved into Saturday night's championship game. The Ponies will meet up with Southwest A Hamilton, which upset Class A favorite Columbia Falls Friday night. Morgan Mazurkiewicz added 14 points for the Ponies, who improved to 16-6 on the season.

Havre and Hamilton will play for the state championship at 8 p.m. Saturday night.

"We're excited to play them," said Lambourne.
