City Council OKs Williams Syndrome walk

City Council Monday night voted in favor of the first Williams Syndrome walk in Montana being held in Havre.

At the short meeting, city council unanimously voted in favor of allowing the Support Williams Syndrome Awareness Walk to take place on May 4.

Stewart and Dottie Wilson are organizing the event in honor of their daughter, Keeley, who was born with Williams Syndrome. May is Williams Syndrome Awareness month. Registration for the walk will begin at 2:30 p.m. and the walk will begin at Town Square at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 4.

Council also voted unanimously to amend the Tri-Agency Safe Trails Task Force Fund and give confirmation to a new probationary police officer.

However, Probationary Patrol Officer candidate Travis Johnson, who council was to vote on, had decided not to pursue becoming part of the police force in Havre, Police Chief Gabe Matosich said. He later explained Johnson’s wife had recently gained employment elsewhere, and Johnson was to follow.
