Chinook girls headline 9C All-Conference team

There’s never a shortage of quality players in District 9C girls basketball. And the 2013-14 was no exception to that.

The Chinook Sugarbeeters repeated as 9C champions this season, and as expected, they had the most 9C All-Conference picks. Chinook had five players earn 9C All-Conference honors for the season. North Star, the 9C runner-up for the second straight year, was next with three picks, while Big Sandy had two and Box Elder had two.

It was also a big senior class this season in the 9C, and Chinook’s Makhayla Farmer and Big Sandy’s Molly Herron are two seniors who earned All 9C honors for the fourth straight season.

Joining Farmer on the 9C team were fellow Beeters, Emily Dennis, Katelyn Neibauer, Brooke Nicholson and Hannah Weber. Dennis and Neibauer are repeat performers.

North Star senior Bettie Carlon was an All-Conference selection for the third time in her career, while Tylynn Rettig was a repeat performer, and junior Mackenzie Hansen was named to the 9C team for the first time.

Big Sandy senior Brooke Leader also earned all 9C honors for the third time in her career, while Box Elder’s Alicia Wolf Chief was a repeat performer and teammate Leilani Gardipee earned all 9C honors for the first time.

Chinook head coach Charlie Robinson was named 9C Coach of the Year.

As far as Northern C All-State honors go, Farmer also earned that distinction for the fourth time in her illustrious Chinook career. She was joined on the All-State list by Neibauer and Chester/J-I’s Haley Harmon.
