Charles Evans Halvorson

Charles Evans Halvorson, 68, of Havre, passed away on Saturday, July 19, 2014.

Services will be held at a later date in Havre. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Schnider Funeral Home of Great Falls.

Charles was born on Oct. 13, 1945. in Malta, Montana. He was in the Navy from 1964 to 1968, serving his tour during the Vietnam War on the Aircraft Carrier Yorktown. He returned to Helena, where he married Noreen McLees on July 27, 1968. He completed his bachelor’s degree in elementary education at the University of Great Falls. He taught grade school in Neihart, fifth- through eighth-grade in Reedpoint, and second grade in Lincoln.

He always loved children, volunteering at the Boys & Girls Club of the Hi-Line as well as a Scout leader for many years. He retired as a Scout executive with the Boy Scouts of America.

Charles sang with the Starlighters in Helena, traveling all over Montana and was a member of the Lutheran Church in Havre. He loved fly fishing, camping, hiking, classic cars and hobby trains.

He is survived by his wife Noreen Halvorson of Havre; son, Charles (Sandra) Neal Halvorson of Oakland, Tennessee; daughter, Michelle (Jose Morales) Marie Burns of Havre; brothers, Martin Halvorson of Helena and Gregory Halvorson of Missoula; sisters, Beverly Parkurst Moss of Dallas and Gail (Walter) Jester of Helena; grandchildren, Madilyn and Elizabeth Halvorson; best friend, John (Linda) Carpita of Issaquah, Washington; along with nephews; nieces; cousins.

He will be sorely missed.
