Two killed in crash near Box Elder

A motor vehicle crash took the lives of two men near Box Elder Wednesday evening.

Though the names were not released by the Chouteau County Sheriff’s Office this morning, Holland and Bonine Funeral Home sent obituaries for the two men.

Jerod Reed Coffee, 19, of Rocky Boy and Lanthine Seth WindyBoy, 22, of Rocky Boy both died in the car crash.

At mile marker 3.5 on Upper Box Elder Road, a vehicle was westbound when it veered off the road to the right shoulder. The vehicle corrected back onto the road and then entered the north side ditch turning clockwise, a press release from Montana Highway Patrol says.

“The vehicle went airborne for the first time continuing clockwise, in which it made its first impact driver’s rear side quarter panel facing eastbound. The vehicle went airborne a second time in which it made its second impact on its rear end,” the press release says.

After the second impact, the two men were ejected from the vehicle. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Seatbelts were not worn at the time of the crash.

Funeral services for WindyBoy will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Rocky Boy Catholic Church and services for Coffee will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Coffee Ranch.
