Grace Ellen Kurtz Nordrum

On July 25, 2014, our amazing mother passed from this world to eternal life.

Grace Ellen Kurtz Nordrum was born March 29, 1927 to Frank and Alice (Dunn) Kurtz in Havre, Montana. She grew up south of Gildford where her parents homesteaded.  Grace graduated from Havre High in 1945 and attended Montana State University in Bozeman for two years.  Grace married Percy Nordrum on Sept. 28, 194, and they moved to Oklee, Minnesota, returning to Montana to farm south of Gildford in 1950.  It was there that they enjoyed raising their seven children.

Mom enjoyed sewing, playing cards and will be remembered for her eekly baking routine of 10 loaves of bread and two pans of cinnamon rolls.  She always had room at the table for extras.  Mom especially enjoyed winters in Arizona with Dad and looked forward to connecting with their AZ friends each year.  Mom and Dad lived in Whitefish and Columbia Falls from 1980–2000, returning to Havre to be near their children.

Grace is preceded in death by her husband, Percy in 2005; son, Dave in 1990; brother, Fran; sister, Marion Fyall; grandson, Shane McCormick; and special niece, Nancy Kurtz Peterson.  Grace is survived by her children:  Charles (Patty)of Havre, Lavonne (Dennis) Schroeder of Miles City, Laurie (Glenn) Huestis of Chinook, Loretta (Keith) Eldridge of Havre, Lylas (Neil) McCormick of Kremlin, Percy Jr (Laurie) of Gildford and stepson, LeRoy Hruby of Oklee, MN; 12 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, one step great-granddaughter, and one step great-great grandson.

Cremation and interment have taken place, and memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at Fifth Avenue Christian Church with Ila McClenahan officiating. The family has requested that memorials be made in Grace's name to Bear Paw Hospice or the charity of the donor's choice.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements. Please visit Grace's online memorial page and leave a message of condolence for her family at http://www.hollandbonine.com.
