Martha Burns

ZURICH - Martha Burns, 53, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones Wednesday, Aug. 13, 2014, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.

Funeral services will be Aug. 19, 2014, at 11 a.m., in the Lloyd Sweet Auditorium.

Martha was born to Les and Elaine Martin in Havre, Montana, on Feb. 3, 1961. After the death of her father, Les, Martha's mother married Lennie Drugge. Martha grew up on the family ranch in Zurich. She attended Chinook schools and graduated in 1978. In 1980, she married the love of her life, Bob Burns in Cody, Wyoming.

Martha and Bob were blessed with three beautiful daughters. She was very proud of all of their accomplishments. Martha worked alongside her husband and girls on the family farm in Zurich. She made every birthday, holiday and family dinner special. A wonderful cook, Martha enjoyed reading recipe books. She was always trying new meals and sweet treats. Martha loved little ones and cared for many children in the Zurich community. She helped and cooked at the Zurich School for 9 ½ years. Martha enjoyed the stories the students had to share as they passed through the lunch line. She received many graduation and wedding invitations from former students.

Martha had a green thumb and loved planting flowers, taking trips with her sister Lezlie, mowing her yard, decorating her home for the holidays, but her true passion was photography.

The greatest joy in Martha's life was her granddaughters, Elaina, Paisley, Kacey and Kenzie. She always looked forward to spending time with them. They played, baked cupcakes and colored together. The girls loved painting their fingernails with Grandma Martha. She was overjoyed to hold and snuggle her newest granddaughter, Kenzie.

Preceded her in death was her father, Les Martin; her mother; Elaine Drugge; and infant sister, Shelley. Martha is survived by her husband, Bob Burns of Zurich; daughters, Samantha (Brad) Weaver of Big Sandy, Jamie (Brian) MacLeod of Zurich, and Randie Burns of Bozeman. Also surviving are her parents, Lennie (Judy) Drugge, sister, Lezlie (Sonny) Modic; brothers, Dirk (Brenda), Issaac (Krystal), Jarrid (Aria) Kline and Chad Drugge; and sister-in-law, Patty (Marc) Boyd. Many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends survive her.

Memorials may be made in Martha Burns' memory to the Benefis Gift of Life.
