Tester calls on colleagues to keep government running

Time is running out on government shutdown, senator says

Montana’s U.S. Sen. Jon Tester said in a press conference Monday that his colleagues in Congress need to put politics aside and pass a resolution to keep the government operating, and not repeat the 16-day government shutdown of last year.

“The clock is ticking,” Tester said. “We’ve got 15 days until the federal government runs out of money.”

House Republicans last year refused to pass a bill to keep the government funded unless it included amendments to the health care reform, which Democrats and President Barack Obama refused to include.
