Changes planned in Ag Appreciation Dinner

For 17 years, the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce’s Agri-Business Committee has organized the Ag Appreciation Banquet with incredible support through business sponsorships.

This has been an event the committee and community have truly enjoyed. Havre’s banquet is one of the largest Ag Appreciation Banquets in the state. The purpose of the banquet is to recognize and thank everyone in the agriculture industry for their valuable contribution to the Havre economy as well as to that of Montana.

The Agri-Business Committee of the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce is working on a new direction for its annual Ag Appreciation Banquet. The committee has decided to postpone this year’s banquet.

Havre has been fortunate enough to have a junior hockey team relocate to town and their ice time requirements will start in September and run through April, thus the Ice Dome will be unavailable for this year’s September banquet.

With planning time tight, it was decided to postpone the event for this year. This will give the committee some additional time to plan for future Ag Appreciation Banquets. While there will not be a banquet this year, the Ag Committee will still present the annual scholarship to Northern students focused on a degree in agriculture, as funds raised from the banquet help sponsor these scholarships.

For 2015, the Ag Committee will join in partnership with the Montana State University Ag Research Center to celebrate its 100th anniversary. This event is set for July 1, and will include many activities at the Northern Ag Research Center, including the Chamber’s Ag Appreciation Banquet. The participation from area ag producers over the past 17 years, has been very much appreciated, said a Chamber spokesperson, and the Ag Committee is looking forward to seeing area producers at the July 1 event.
