MSU-N rodeo teams ride in Miles City

Northern's Gobert finishes second in bull riding at Miles Community College Rodeo

The Montana State University-Northern men’s and women’s rodeo teams are almost done with the fall portion of the Big Sky Region Schedule.

Last weekend, the Lights and Skylights were in Miles City for the Miles Community College Rodeo, and one Light had a great performance.

Northern freshman Alan Gobert scored 75 points in his first ride in the bull riding competition and wound up finishing in second place overall. Gobert, in his first season with Lights, hails from Browning.

Overall, the MSU-N men finished sixth in the team standings with 100 points. Northwest College was first, followed by UM-Western, Montana State, Miles Community College and UGF.

The Northern women didn’t score in the Miles rodeo, which ran last Friday through Sunday. MSU was first, while Dawson Community College finished second and Miles Community College third on the women’s side.

The Lights and Skylights wrap up the 2014 schedule by heading to Dillon for this weekend’s UM-Western Rodeo.
