Town Pump to match food bank donations

At a time of the year when additional food is most needed, Town Pump Foundation will match donations to the Havre Food Bank up to $7,500.

It is part of the foundation's $500,000 in matching funds offered to food banks throughout their service area.

“It basically means that if you donate $10, we get a total of $20,” said Lorna Bjerga, manager of the Havre Food Bank.

The food bank provides food to needy families throughout the area. Special Christmas baskets are given out during the holiday season.

Donations are also being accepted at Town Pump locations in the area, including Lucky Lil’s, Magic Diamond, Montana Lil’s and Townhouse Inns, the foundation said in a press release. Donations made there will not be matched.

Bjerga said this is the busiest time of the year at the food bank and there is a real need for more food.

People can mail donations to 2229 5th Ave., Havre, MT 59501, or drop them off at HRDC or the food bank.
