Locker rooms opened for business

The ribbon-cutting ceremony at Havre High School showed the community how much work has been put into the athletic facilities at the school.

Attendees were shown the now-complete locker rooms at the high school and got a chance to see the work that was being done with the wrestling room.

"I thought it went really well," said Andy Carlson, superintendent of Havre Public School District. " ... We had a nice turnout from the community."

The Havre Chamber Ambassadors came with their ribbon and large scissors, and high school students respresting the athletic teams and the Blue Pony Booster Club were all present to open the locker rooms to the community.

Carlson said he enjoyed showing past Havre High students the work that had been put into remodeling the locker rooms.

"I think the most fun is when you get past-students," Carlson said. "They knew how bad they had become."

He added that a phrase often uttered was "Why didn't they do this when I was here?"

"It's been a real work in progress," Carlson said. "It kind of shows you it was worth it."

People also got the chance to go through the incomplete wrestling room and get an idea of what it was going to look like.

"It's exciting, we look forward to hosting the 9C tournament," Carlson said.

The new Havre High School bus that takes the teams to whichever town they are competing in was also open for people to look at. Many people see the bus traveling to and from Havre, but few get to actually explore it and see how nice it is, Carlson said.

"It was a pretty nice event, and I appreciate everyone coming out to it, especially in the cold," Carlson said.

The Sunnyside Intermediate School ribbon ceremony should be in two to three weeks, after they complete phase one of the work, Carlson said.
