Charter moving to all-digital service

Charter Communications said Wednesday that they are moving to an all-digital network in Montana, Wyoming and Colorado.

The move should double Internet speeds at no additional cost to the user, a press release from the company said. It will also provide customers with access to more than 200 high-definition channels.

Havre Charter customers will be able to sign up for the service Nov. 24.

“It is important to note that customers must take action to install digital set-top boxes on every television in their homes to avoid disruptions to their service,” the press release reads. “Charter is making it easy for customers to obtain one or more boxes at no cost for one, two or five years, depending on the customer’s programming package and other qualifying factors.”

This is a part of the push Charter has been making to switch to all-digital, which it has done in 10 states so far. The company provides services to 29 states and said all of them will have the upgrade by 2014.

Those wanting the upgrade can visit the Charter Havre office at 1770 2nd St. W. from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
