Young faces strangulation charge in fed court

A Fort Belknap Indian Reservation man is facing federal charges alleging he, on multiple occasions, strangled a woman and threatened to “end her.”

Kyle Young, 33, a former law enforcement officer, pleaded not guilty in federal District Court in Great Falls to charges of strangulation and assault resulting in serious injury.

Young’s trial is set for Jan. 20 in Great Falls.

According to court documents, a Fort Belknap woman reported Oct. 13 to a Fort Belknap investigator and an FBI agent that Young had strangled her. The woman said he had abused her on other dates, including one occasion where he had strangled her until she started seeing stars.

The woman also told officers that he has said he was “going to end her,” the document says, and previously had pointed his service weapon at her head and chest and threatened to kill her.
