Bullhook Clinic receives $11K from feds

Havre’s Bullhook Community Health Center has been given $11,593 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to expand quality improvement.

Cindy Smith, executive director at the Bullhook Community Health Center said that her health center was awarded money because it had demonstrated improvements in the facility. The money will be used toward various projects.

“We are switching to a new (electronic medical record system) and we’ll be bringing in some consultants to help us make sure we’re setting up everything in our electronic medical records to continue doing the improvements that we made,” she said.

Smith said the new EMS system will be a way to connect with patients, such as through text message alerts.

“It’s about making sure we truly are engaging the patients and making their experience better and their quality of care better,” she added.

Smith also said some of the money will be used toward the new pharmacy that will be opening next week. The pharmacy will be part of the health center’s building and will open Monday. The hours will be 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

This pharmacy will include 340B access, where medications will be made available at a reduced cost.

“Any patient that comes here, will get access to those discounts,” she said.

Smith also said that individuals who have no insurance can have access to different types of benefits through the program.

According to a United States Department of Health and Human Services press release, $331,449 was given to 15 health centers in Montana.
