MAT's Valentine's dinner entertains with cabaret

Montana Actors’ Theatre is holding its Valentine’s dinner and cabaret at the Historic Post Office Saturday.

The event will feature The Electric City Cabaret, a martini bar and dinner. Tickets are $35 per person or $50 for a couple. Cocktails will be served at 5:30, dinner at 6:30 and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.

Jay Pyette, the main director of MAT, said his group has worked with the cabaret before and thought this would be a fun event to hold in Havre.

“We’ve worked with them on and off and thought it would be interesting to do something different,” Pyette said.

The cabaret will have a variety of musical numbers to entertain the attendees.

Pyette emphasized that they are not a burlesque group, but a musical cabaret group.

“It’s musical entertainment,” he said. “They have a lot of fun with it.”

Mike Hamilton will be preparing the dinner, which Pyette said will consist of simple, but exceptional dishes like chicken and vegetables and cheesecake.

MAT usually holds a Valentine’s Day event — usually a play in the theater.

“Since we didn’t have anything running, we decided this would be a great thing to do,” Pyette said.

He said that the event is not entirely formal, but it is nicer. People can wear what they feel comfortable in, he added.

There will also be a late-night cabaret with cocktails served at 9:30 and a showtime of 10 p.m. Tickets for this second event will be $15 per person or $25 for a couple.

Tickets are on sale on the MAT website, at Angie’s Wildflowers and at the door, permitting the show has not been sold out.
