'Men Who Cook ...' set for March

The ninth annual “Men Who Cook for Women who Wine” fundraiser is set for March 28 at the Hingham Community Center.

Cathie Haas, an organizer of the event, said that men from across the Hi-Line will showcase their culinary skills and prepare various dishes. The people who attend will have the opportunity to sample the dishes and vote for their favorite chefs.

Haas said that men can still sign up to become a chef up until the day of the event.

“Any guy that wants to cook can be a cook,” she said.

The proceeds will benefit the organization, “A Serving of Hope from Men Who Cook.” This group provides financial assistance to families in need who are experiencing serious medical conditions. Financial assistance is available to qualifying families living in Phillips, Blaine, Hill and Liberty counties, as well as Big Sandy.

Each year, approximately $25,000 to $30,000 is raised at this event.

Since 2010, when "Serving of Hope" was established, more than $100,000 has been made available to those in need.

Haas said that tickets entitle guests to a glass of wine or beer, access to all of the food samples and three ballots to vote for their favorites.

“We have some raffles throughout the night — there’s a live auction and a silent auction that goes on,” she added.

Haas said that there will be various games set up at the fundraiser, such as bingo.

The doors to this event open at 6 p.m.
