July trial set for woman accused of elder abuse, theft

The woman accused of embezzling nearly $50,000 in cash and property from an elderly Hi-Line man is scheduled to go to trial July 14.

District Judge Dan Boucher set the date in an omnibus hearing Monday.

Lisa L. Cole, born in 1972, of the Troy area, was not present at the hearing; however, her attorney, Helge Naber, was.

Cole was charged Dec. 30 with one count of elder abuse and one count of theft.

Court documents say Cole had the alleged victim's power of attorney, giving her access to various finances.

She pleaded not guilty to both counts before Boucher Jan. 22.

According to records at the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, Cole was released on bail Jan. 14.

If convicted, Cole faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000, the court documents say.
