Dane Warp, Havre Basketball

Havre junior Dane Warp has done a lot of incredible things already in his basketball career. But at the top is what he did at this past weekend's Central A tournament in Great Falls. Warp torched Browning for 27 points in a semifinal win on Friday afternoon, but his encore Saturday night was one for the ages. In a double-overtime loss to Belgrade in the championship game, Warp scored a remarkable 41 points, including four 3-pointers. The two-time Class A All-State football and hoops star added another 11 points in Monday night's win, helping the Ponies reach their second straight state tourney.

Chinook Girls Basketball Team

The new 9-team Northern C girls divisional tournament was going to be tough. But no team had it more difficult than the Chinook girls. The Sugarbeeters had to play the 8 a.m. first-round game in the opening day of the tournament, and after a loss to state champion Belt in the quarterfinals, the Beeters played four straight games to give themselves a chance to qualify for the Class C state tournament. Chinook wound up beating Roy-Winifred in the consolation game before falling to Cascade in the challenge game. Still it was a remarkable and gutsy four-day performance by Chinook in Great Falls.
