Three Pony boys earn Central A honors

Havre High's Dane Warp named Class A All-State for a third straight season

The Havre High boys basketball team had one of its best seasons in recent memory during the 2014-15 campaign and that success was reflected by the number of Blue Ponies selected for the Central A All-Conference team.

The Ponies, who finished the season 15-9 overall, qualified for the Class A state tournament for the second year in a row and came within seconds of playing for the state championship. Havre also had a solid regular season, going 4-4 in the Central A conference, while at the same time finishing second at the Central A divisional tournament after losing a double-overtime Classic to Belgrade.

Of course, there was little doubt that junior Dane Warp would earn First-Team All-Conference honors and he did so for the third straight season, while also working his way onto the Class A All-State team for the third year in a row.

Warp, who was the top scorer in all of Class A basketball, averaged 23.9 points per game this season for HHS, while also averaging more than five rebounds per game. He also eclipsed the 30-point mark in scoring numerous times over the course of the season.

Joining Warp on the First-Team squad and on the All-State team is Keldon Lamb of Belgrade and Ladan Ricketts of Livingston. The other members of the Central A First Team are Morgan Ray of Lewistown and Joseph Bremner of Browning.

The Second Team also features a Pony presence as senior forward Michael Bakke made his way onto the team with an average of 8.7 points per game a Central A best 9.3 rebounds per game. The rest of the Second Team includes Brayden Konkol of Belgrade, Koby Ruff of Belgrade, Josh Monroe of Browning and James Derheim of Lewistown.

Havre junior Nate Rismon also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference honors after a solid season that saw him average 8.8 points per game and 5.2 rebounds. It was the second straight year that Rismon earned Honorable Mention. Mike Deming of Belgrade was voted the coach of the year.
