Easter events set across community

With Easter just around the corner, many organizations are gearing up for their annual Easter events within the community.

The Havre Optimist Club will hold its annual Easter egg dyeing event Thursday April 2 at Saddle Butte Custom Smoking, 2520 38th St. Southeast at 6 p.m.

Lisa Ophus, a member of the Optimist Club, said approximately 2,500 eggs are expected to be dyed this year.

“I love watching the egg dyeing,” she said. “Just to see the smile on their faces is a treat.”

The eggs will then be hidden around Optimist Park at 9th Street West and Boulevard Avenue for an Easter egg hunt that will be held Sunday April 5 at 1 p.m.

Ophus said there will be three different age groups: 0-3, 4-6 and 7-9.

“We have a prize for each age group also,” she said. “There will be three prize eggs.”

Sweet Memorial Nursing Home in Chinook will hold its annual Easter egg hunt Saturday, April 4, at 11 a.m. at 125 Airport Road in Chinook.

Jenni Pula, a coordinator of the event, said there will be four different age groups: 1-3, 4-5, 6-7 and 8-10.

Pula said the nursing home buys the goodies and the residents and staff help stuff the Easter eggs.

“It’s just something we do for the community to give back to them,” she said. “I just think it’s a fun time to bring the community together with our residents and to have a fun event out at the nursing home.”

Pula added that people need to bring their own container to collect the eggs.

The Havre Eagles Club and the Havre Jaycees will host their annual Easter egg hunt Saturday April 4, at 1 p.m. at Eagles Park, which is on 1st Street and 18th Avenue.

There will be four age groups: 1-4, 5-7, 8-10 and 11 and up.

Tom Farnham, manager of the Eagles Club, said after the hunt, people can go to the Eagles Club, at 202 1st Street for food, fun and games.

“It’s a big event, and it’s neat and it’s nice to see the kids having so much fun,” he said.

Farnham added that people should bring their own container to collect the eggs.

All of these events are free of charge and open to the public.
