No Havre school board election this year

There will not be a Havre Public School Board of Trustees election this year, as no one but the incumbents filed a petition for candidacy.

Eileen Couch, the chair of the board and high school representative for Cottonwood and Davey school districts, vice-chair Harvey Capellen and Ed Hill were the members whose terms were up, and they were also the only people to turn in their petitions, said Andy Carlson, superintendent of Havre Public Schools.

They have been given the next term for their positions, which will last for three years.

Deadline for petitions was Thursday at 5 p.m.

There will be no mill levy vote this year, either.

Carlson said the high school district is at its maximum tax rate. The elementary district needs no mill levy this year, Carlson told Hill County Democrats Tuesday, though that may change in coming years.
