Motorcycle crash claims 1 life, injures another

Two men riding a motorcycle in Havre Friday night crashed into a concrete barrier that took one of their lives and seriously injured the other.

Shane Paul Boucher, 28, of Havre died after the driver of the motorcycle attempted to make a left-hand turn from 6th Street onto 7th Avenue North at approximately 11:10 p.m. Friday. The motorcycle went off the right side of the road and hit the concrete barrier.

After they were unable to take the turn, the motorcycle was laid down before it struck the barrier.

Whether alcohol was involved in the crash is still being investigated by the Montana Highway Patrol. MHP Captain Duane Bowers said the investigators are waiting for reports from Missoula before they can finalize whether alcohol was involved. However, neither person was wearing a helmet and speed was a contributing factor, he said.

The other rider of the motorcycle, Timothy Anderson, 25, of Dillon was taken to Northern Montana Hospital with serious injuries and then to Benefis Hospital in Great Falls.

Bowers said investigators are waiting for Anderson to be able to give an interview and give a recorded statement for their investigation. They do not have a definite answer as to who was driving the Kawasaki motorcycle and are still conducting interviews with other witnesses, he said.
