Benefit for Peggy Gallagher set for Thursday

Peggy Gallagher is well known to customers at McDonald’s and Kmart. She has been front-end manager at Kmart for many years and manager at McDonald’s where she has gotten to know lots of Havre people.

She recently suffered a stroke. She’s bouncing back through lots of physical therapy, but the bills are mounting, and friends are helping her out by holding a fundraiser at Pizza Hut Thursday.

“So many people know her for her work, so we hope they will come out,” said Jessica Garva, a family friend who is helping out with the fundraiser.

Pizza Hut has agreed to contribute 20 percent of the proceeds from the sale of all food Thursday — dine-in, carryout or delivery. All people have to do is to mention Peggy’s name, she said. The store is open 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., she said.

Peggy is a hard-working lady who holds down two jobs and keeps books for the family business, Garva said, and the stroke has slowed her down.

But she is in good spirits, Garva said.

“She goes to therapy four times a week,” she said. “She’s tired by the end of it, but she keeps going.”
