MSU-Northern rodeo teams return to action

After a long winter layoff, the Montana State University-Northern men’s and women’s rodeo teams are ready to get back on the horse.

The Lights and Skylights open the 2015 spring Big Sky Region season this weekend with two performances at the Montana State University Rodeo in Bozeman.

This weekend starts a busy stretch for the Northern rodeo teams. The Lights and Skylights will also be in Glendive at the end of the month for the Dawson Community College Rodeo, then they will travel to Great Falls for the UGF Rodeo April 30-May 2. The action wraps up with the Big Sky Region finale, the University of Montana Rodeo May 7-9 in Missoula.

Doug Kallenberger is once again the head coach of the Northern rodeo team. His women’s team includes Sierra Collins, who competes in barrel racing and breakaway roping, Sarah Peterson, who does the same, Mariana Jochim, who competes in breakaway roping, Meagan Raty who competes in barrels, breakaway, goat tying and team roping, Laramie Pursley, who competes in barrels and Paige Raty, who competes in barrels, breakaway, goat tying and team roping.

The Northern men’s team is composed of Colton Weekes, who competes in team roping and tie-down roping, Andrew Leo, who competes in team roping, Canyon Rehbein, who competes in bull riding, Cole Wagner, who also rides bulls, Jordan Lewis, who competes in team roping, Kiin Salois, who does bareback riding, Colten Henderson, who does saddle bronc riding, as well as Dillon Pankratz and Kyle Clutter.ho does saddle bronc riding, as well as Dillon Pankratz and Kyle Clutter.
