2 named to state boards

Press release

Two area residents have been named to state boards by Gov. Steve Bullock.

• Havre City Councilwoman Janet Trethewey has been named to the state Board of Athletic Trainers.

She will represent the public who is not connected directly with the practice of athletic training.

Trethewey is a retired professor at Montana State University-Northern and was the unsuccessful Democratic candidate for the state House in November.

• Dan Belcourt, who divides his time between Missoula and Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation, has been named to the state Transportation Commission.

Bullock said Belcourt was named because of his knowledge of Indian culture and tribal transportation needs.

An attorney, Belcourt represents the Chippewa Cree Tribe. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Montana.
