Local Golf Report: Beeters head to State C tourney

For many, golf season is just getting started. For others, this week is the culmination.

That is the case for the 2015 Chinook High School golf team. A handful of Sugarbeeters are playing today and Wednesday in the Class C state tournament in Shelby. The tournament is being played at the Marias Valley Golf Club in Shelby.

For the Chinook boys, Lane Seymour, Derek Bell, Ian McIntosh and Kade Friede qualified. For the Chinook girls, Jordan Surber and Allie Skoyen made the trip. Mike Seymour is Chinook’s head coach. So good luck to all the Beeters playing at state this week, and we’ll have complete results in the Havre Daily News next week.

On the other side of the coin, league golf is just starting to get going, and men’s league at Prairie Farms Golf Course completed its second week of action last week.

Last Tuesday night saw BKD Law earn high-team honors with 21 points. The team was composed of Mike Ritz, Brian Lillevedt, Dick Hansen and Patch Wirtzberger. Jeremy Jensen fired an even-par 36 to take home low gross honors, while low net went to Brett Huestis with a 28.5.

On Wednesday night, Triangle Communications was high team with 21.5 points. The team was made up of Sam Cassel, Lee Schuster, Kevin Hoover and Jason Castillon. Jensen was once again low gross, this time shooting a 1-under 35. Barry Kato was low net with a 29.

Don’t forget, the annual Women Fighting Breast Cancer Tournament is first up on the tourney slate this summer, and is not far off. The tournament will be held at Prairie Farms on June 6.
