Chinook, Havre finish strong in All Sports Trophy race

Beeters, Blue Ponies bring three state titles back to the Hi-Line

The spring sports season brought an end to another exciting year of high school sports in Montana and on the Hi-Line. And with it, the annual Montana All Sports Trophy was recently awarded.

Bozeman High School earned the All-Sports Award for the 2014-15 school year. Bozeman scored 124 points and captured four Class AA state championships this season. Seven of the top 10 schools in the scoring were from Class AA, while Corvallis was the top Class A school, as it came in third. Bigfork, which finished sixth in the scoring, was the top Class B school, while Billings Central and Whitefish and Columbia Falls also broke into the Top 10.

The Hi-Line was well-represented though, led by Class C Chinook. Chinook scored 45 points this school year and captured Class C state championships in wrestling and girls tennis. Chinook also got a second-place state finish in football last fall and a third-place finish in boys golf this spring. Overall, Chinook finished 18th in the scoring and was second among Class C schools. Only Gardiner, which finished 12th overall, was higher among Class C schools.

As for Havre High, the Blue Ponies finished in a tie for 30th with 30 points. Havre was led in the scoring by yet another wrestling state championship, while boys tennis also brought home points from last week's Class A state tournament. Havre finished 10th in the scoring among Class A schools.

The only other Hi-Line school to score points in the All Sports Trophy race was Rocky Boy, which finished with five points.
