Upon his retirement from the railroad, golf became his new passion, and he played at every opportunity and also made golf clubs in his spare time. At the same time he and Nadine started “snowbirding” to Arizona and eventually settled in Sun City West, Arizona, where he died on Dec. 21, 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nadine; his four children,  Zoanne (Bob) Zapata of San Antonio, Texas, Tom Jr (Sue) of Kalispell, Montana, Tim (Kristen) of Tacoma, Washington and Mike (Stephanie) of Spokane, Washington; nine grandchildren; and two siblings, Penny (George) Ament of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Pat (Karen) Wynne of Helena, Montana.

Per his wishes, his ashes will be spread in early July outside of Havre.
