Skylights land a star defensive specialist

The 2015 volleyball season creeps ever closer for the Montana State University-Northern Skylights. But, head coach Bill Huebsch has continued to stay hot on the recruiting trail.

On Monday, Huebsch announced the signing of Rebecca Egan of Big Bend Community College to an NAIA national letter of intent. Egan is a 5-6 defensive specialist who will join the Skylight program this fall.

Egan recently finished a two year career at Big Bend Community College. Egan graduated from Skyview High School in Soldotna, Alaska.

At Big Bend, Egan was voted Most Motivational Player of 2013-2014 season and was a member of the All-NWAACC Academic Team two years in a row. She was selected to play in the NWAACC All-Star Game, and was selected as Defensive Player of Week 8 during the 2014 season

At Skyview High School, Egan helped her team to a fourth-place finish at the Alaska State Tournament as an opposite hitter her sophomore year. She was Second-Team All-Region Outside Hitter as a junior and First-Team All-Region Setter as a senior. Egan also played for the Midnight Sun Volleyball Club for four consecutive years.

Egan is the daughter of Sean Egan and Beverly Egan. She intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree in business and finish out her volleyball career as a Skylight. Egan is now the seventh member of the Skylights’ 2015 recruiting class. Northern is just a month away from opening its 2015 training camp.
