Padgett racks up six medals in swimming

It’s been a successful year for the Havre Lions swim team. And it was an especially successful summer for one of its top swimmers.

Natalie Padgett, 10, recently competed at the Montana State Long Course Championship Swim Meet in Bozeman. The meet, which was held July 24-25, which also happened to be over Padgett’s birthday, featured over 100 swimmers and is one of the top club swim meets in the state each year.

Padgett was the only member of the Lions swim team to compete, and she racked up six medals over the course of the two-day event. Included in her achievements were two gold medals, as she finished first in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:36.38. She won the race by an astounding 4.9 seconds. Padgett also captured first place in the 50 backstroke with a time of 40.10.

Padgett also placed third in the 200 IM with a time of 3:18.70, third in the 200 freestyle with a time of 2:45.42 and third in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 46.53. She rounded out her meet with a fourth-place finish in the 50 free with a time of 34.61.

Jill Cammon, who is also the coach at Havre High, coaches Padgett and the rest of the Havre Lions swim team.
