Planning is underway for the 35th celebration of Havre Festival Days.

The theme for this year's weekend is Let's Celebrate Havre. The weekend starts Friday, Sept. 18, with the 48-hour softball tournament, the Quilt Show and the second day of the Friends of the Library Book Sale.

The fun continues Saturday, Sept. 19, starting with the Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast and the final Saturday Market at Town Square.

The parade, the big event of the Festival Days, highlights the weekend Saturday morning. The fun continues throughout the afternoon with the opening of the Festival of Crafts and Commercial Product Show and a full schedule of activities. Saturday evening, Montana Actors' Theatre presents "Death by Chocolate."

Sunday, Sept. 20, wraps up the weekend with the final games of the 48-hour softball tournament, the Festival Run/Walk and the Craft Show.

For a full listing of the weekend's schedule of events go to the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce website at http://www.havrechamber.com, click on calendar/events and find the Festival Days schedule.

If this isn't enough to keep one busy, there is football to enjoy: Montana State University-Northern's homecoming game is Saturday and the Havre High School Blue Ponies will play at home Friday.

Commemorative mugs and buttons will again be available. The mugs and the buttons will feature this year's logo.

Havre Festival Days is a tradition reborn. This community event was started after several years of no real community celebration when the ever-popular Band or May Festival was discontinued in the 1960s.

This year's celebration marks the 35th year the Havre community has celebrated Festival Days.

Festival Days is a fitting conclusion to the summer with something for everyone. People can mark their calendars for Sept. 18-20, and plan to attend the 35th celebration of Havre Festival Days.
