Letter to the Editor: Thanks for help with Sounds on the Square

Editor:

As with so many activities that take place in Havre, Sounds on the Square wouldn’t happen without the volunteer help and the financial generosity of those believing in keeping Havre a great place and offering some fun activities like Sounds on the Square. Thanks to NorthWestern Energy for your generosity this year through your sponsorship of Sounds on the Square. The company's willingness to support community activities such as the summer music series at Town Square is very much appreciated.

We also thank the Sleeter Fund for supporting Sounds on the Square for the past eight years.

Friends gather and others see friends they have not visited with in a while, all fulfilling the original goal of the Town Square Committee — “to create a gathering place for the community.”

It is heartwarming to stroll through the Square seeing community folks singing along to the familiar tunes and some finding partners to dance to the rhythm of the music. Many I see have supported the summer music concerts since they were started in 2005. And, thank you for you continued support. Thank you also to everyone that supported each band each Wednesday.

Thank you to Joe Ross for his continuing commitment to making Sounds on the Square a fun summer event for all. Watch for new happenings at next summer’s Sounds on the Square.

On behalf of the Chamber of Commerce and the Town Square Committee we would like to thank all the bands that made this summer’s Sounds on the Square a huge success. Blind Luck, Plowed Under, Milk River Band, Shovel & Shotguns, Holly and the Hi-Line Pickers, China Water Symbol, ROC Band, Stone Broke String Band, The Swamp Goats and Neal Lewing for another great summer of music.

The time that each of the bands dedicated to each Wednesday evening in the months of June, July and August shows their commitment to the Sounds on the Square and to the community.

Again, a very special thanks to the bands: We are already looking forward to next summer’s Sounds on the Square. See you then everyone.
