Triple Dog Brewing wins award

Montana State University is awarding Triple Dog Brewing Co. its 2015 Family Business Day award for its new business category.

Michael Garrity, brewmaster and co-owner of Triple Dog, said he wasn't sure how prestigious the award is, but he is glad to get it.

"I don't know how big of a deal it is, to be honest," Garrity said. "But, I guess any kind of award is a good award."

Triple Dog was opened March 28, 2014, and still shows no sign of slowing. Garrity is waiting on a new brew system to come in so he can quadruple the amount of beer he can make. He said he hopes to start distributing kegs to businesses in town once he gets the new system going.

"It'd be nice to have to double our capacity every year," he said.

Triple Dog's Aberdeen scotch ale won second place at a Montana beer competition, Garrity said, and this award is something new to hang on the wall at the brewery.

The other winners of the awards are Cove Deli and Pizza of Polson for the very small business category, Mountain Valley Foods of Kalispell for the small business category, George's Distributing of Helena for the large business category, Helle Rambouillet and Associated Enterprises of Dillon for the old business category, Parker's Hangover Tonic of Billings as a second recipient of the new business category and Williams Companies of Bozeman for a special recognition.
