Obituary - Rylin Burns

Rylin Burns, 23, passed away on Sept. 19, 2015, due to injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.

Wake services began at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, and continued until her funeral services at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, also at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church.

Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with services and arrangements.

Rylin was born on Sept. 30, 1991, in Havre to Hunter and Mary (Descharme) Burns. She was raised in Rocky Boy, attending Box Elder schools until her senior year, when she transferred to Rocky Boy High School to graduate with her best friend Kaycee.

Rylin earned all-state honors in basketball. She loved the game where she was able to travel state to state, earning many MVPs and all-star titles. Ry also enjoyed a little one-on-one with her nephew and little brother, James, pushing them to their best. After she would beat them, she would let them know that she was a better basketball player than they were.

Although Rylin grew up in Rocky Boy, she looked forward to spending her summers in Babb. She enjoyed the mountains and all her many cousins and uncles, grandparents, nieces and nephews.

After blowing out her knee, Rylin hung up her basketball shoes and put on her cowgirl boots. She competed in the arenas and loved barrel racing where she even won an all-around title by riding a bull. She loved riding horses with her sister, Rose, and her kids. The light of her life was Baby Hunter; how she loved her son. He was just learning how to rope and ride with his mom right there beside him.

Rylin was a gypsy, always game to jump in with anyone needing a driver or a passenger. She spent many nights out on the road.

Ry loved spending time with her family. She always lit up the room with her bright smile and kind eyes. Rylin attended Stone Child College and had planned to attend Blackfeet Community College this winter to pursue nursing. She worked at Big Sandy Medical Center as a CNA, where she was loved by all her co-workers and many residents. Rylin also worked on the highway, as a flagger and operator for road construction. Following in her dad's footsteps, Ry could outwork the best of them.

Ry loved her Native American culture, both Blackfeet and Cree traditions. She understood who she was as a Native American girl and presented herself with that pride and self-esteem. She demonstrated those values in the way she treated her elders and her love for her brothers and sisters, but most of all, the gleam in her eye when she talked about her Baby Hunter.

Rylin was preceded in death by her grandfathers, Samuel and Mikey Descharme; brother, Kevin Caplette; her uncles, John Descharme and Bobby Burns; and several cousins.

She is survived by her son, Hunter Riley James Burns of Rocky Boy; her parents, Hunter and Mary Burns of Rocky Boy; her brothers James, Jeremy (Claren), and Jacob (Jacinda) Burns, all of Rocky Boy; her sisters, Rosemary (Myron "J.R." Oats, Jr.) Burns and Melody (Darell Watson) Descharme, all of Rocky Boy; her grandparents, Shirley Descharme of Rocky Boy, Lorraine Burns of Babb and Robert (Charlene) Burns of Babb; Kaycee Henry, her special friend who became a sister; adopted family, Melody, Frank, Jeff and Aaron Henry; and numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews and other extended family and friends.
