Hi-Line Volleyball Roundup: North Star wins three in 6C East action

October is crunch time in high school volleyball. And with another week of volleyball on the Hi-Line now in the books, crunch time has arrived.

Last week’s action on the Hi-Line got started with the Chinook Sugarbeeters remaining unbeaten in the District 6C East. On Friday night, the Beeters took down Box Elder by scores of 25-6, 25-7 and 25-18.

In a dominant performance, the Beeters were balanced, getting three kills each from Abigail Ellison and Taylor Neibauer. Ellison also had six digs, while Neibauer had two blocks. Eve The Boy had two kills for the Bears, while Lillian Gopher had one block and one dig.

Friday night also saw the North Star Knights roll to two wins over Hays-Lodge Pole. In the first home match, the Knights swept the Thunderbirds by scores of 25-10, 25-5 and 25-11 as Sheridan O’Neil had seven kills, Jewel Wicks had nine digs and Chelsea Donaldson had a whopping 17 service aces for the Knights.

In the second match, the Knights were equally as good in another sweep. North Star won by scores of 25-4, 25-14 and 25-7, and again, serving was the key as O’Neil served up 14 aces, while Lily Pedersen had six kills and Graysen Spicher tallied 14 assists.

The Chester/J-I Hawks kept pace in the 6C East with a sweep of Big Sandy Friday night, followed by a sweep of the Box Elder Bears Saturday night.

In Saturday night’s match, the Hawks rolled over the Bears by scores of 25-10, 25-15 and 25-18. Allix Goldhahn had eight kills and five aces for C/J-I, while Jeraca Tempel had seven assists. The Bears got three kills from Eve The Boy, while she and Tia Russell each had four digs on defense.

North Star continued its winning ways with a third conference victory on the weekend. On Saturday night, the Knights swept the Big Sandy Pioneers by scores of 25-12, 25-12 and 25-20. Big Sandy played tough, but in the end, the talented Knights were too much, as Sheridan O’Neil belted 12 kills and five aces, while Graysen Spicher totaled 25 assists.

Saturday night was also a quick one for Chinook, as the Beeters swept HLP in three games to remain undefeated in the 6C East.

Things didn’t go as well this weekend for Rocky Boy, however. The Morning Stars lost a pair of District 1B matches, including a home loss to Fairfield Friday night. On Saturday night, the Morning Stars were dropped by Conrad by scores of 25-18, 25-7 and 25-12.

In the loss, Jurnee LaForge paced the Morning Stars with four kills and two aces, while Sean Henry had nine of Rocky Boy’s 23 digs.
