School board approves DC band trip

The Havre School Board of Trustees quickly passed a resolution Tuesday night allowing the Havre High School Band to travel to Washington, D.C., over the Fourth of July holiday.

The band will represent Montana in the annual Independence Day Parade in the nation’s capital.

“This is an honor,” said Havre High Assistant Principal Kipp Lewis, as he presented the proposal to the school board.

Under school policy, the board has to approve all out-of-state travel for school groups.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” he said. “It is a real tribute not only to our students .....
