McKeon-Hanson named to Northern director position

Erica McKeon-Hanson has been named program director for Montana State University -Northern’s new Native American Serving Non-Tribal Institutions Grant/The Little River Institute.

McKeon-Hanson has spent the past eight years at Aaniiih Nakoda College on the Fort Belknap Indian Reservation, where she was a faculty member, student adviser and mentor.

Prior to her time at the Fort Belknap college, she was a tribal college faculty member and adviser at Stone Child College on Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation.

McKeon-Hanson holds a Master of Public Health degree from the Center for American Indian Health at the Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, a Master of Science in education with a major in learning development from  Northern.

In addition to her work in the classroom, she has also facilitated research projects with her tribal college students to address health disparities that plague their home reservations.
