Pieces from a jigsaw puzzle adorn the grass at the Community Fitness Park. A jigsaw puzzle is often used to symbolize the need to raise awareness about the disorder, with the pieces symbolizing the mystery and complexity of Autism Spectrum Disorder. Because every puzzle piece is different in some way, the pieces also are intended to represent the diversity of the individuals affected.
A walk to raise awareness about autism set for Saturday, part of observance of Autism Awareness Month, has two courses. The start of the 5-kilometer walk is 9:30 a.m and the start ofthe 1-mile walk is set for 9:45 a.m. The walk was organized by We are Autism Havre, a group of about six or seven families and caregivers of children on the autism spectrum.
