Quick Pics: Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited Youth Day

About 307 fifth- and sixth-graders were at Fresno Reservoir Friday for the annual Youth Day activities at Fresno Reservoir.

The Fresno Chapter of Walleyes Unlimited annually sponsor the program aimed at teaching young people the fun of fishing, along with safe water practices.

The kids come from Hill County schools each spring to learn the essentials of fishing. All of the kids are taken out on boats in the reservoir.

Every child gets a fishing pole, said Chuck Wimmer of Walleyes Unlimited.

The poles are purchased with money donated by BNSF Railway and NorthWestern Energy, he said.

"We can't thank them enough," he said of the two companies.
