Family night planned at Rocky Boy

The Chippewa Cree Office of Victims Services will be hosting a Family Night Spring Fling Carnival tonight at the former Stone Child College building.   Tina Morales, who works with the office of Victim Services, said her group and other social services agencies try to put on family fun nights that offer all those on the reservation community a chance to come together in a wholesome drug-free and alcohol-free climate.

Such gatherings typically draw about 500 people, she said.

Morales said the evening will include entertainment and activities as well as a taco-in-a-bag dinner.

The Chippewa Cree Diabetes Prevention Program will serve healthy snacks and provide a table where attendees can have their picture taken.

There will be face-painting. Other activities will include a bean bag toss and a dart game.

Free haircuts will be provided for boys and nail painting for girls, courtesy of the Chippewa Cree Tribal Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program.

The event starts at 5 p.m in the gymnasium in the former Stone Child College building.

Those who need transportation to the carnival can contact Rocky Boy Transit at 395-8726.
