Saturday Market opens July 9

Havre’s Saturday Market opens July 9 at Town Square.

Saturday Market is a collaborative effort between the Havre Area Chamber of Commerce, local vendors, inclusive of producers, crafters and artists.

The event fits in to the vision the Town Square Committee had for the area, to develop it into a community gathering place for events and gatherings like the market.

The market started at the Town Square in 2002, upon completion of the Square. The market has grown from a handful of vendors in the early years to averaging more than 40 vendors.

All area gardeners, bakers and crafters are extended an invitation to participate. The market is growing each year.

“Last year was a record year for vendor participation,” said Debbie Vandeberg, executive director of the Chamber. “Farmer’s markets play a valuable role in promoting healthy local economics in communities. They provide a viable economic opportunity for local residents to market their goods and create an accessible, social atmosphere for the community.”

Each participant needs to bring what they need to conduct business, such as canopy, table and chair. No power is provided. The fee to set up at Saturday Market is $60 for the 11 weeks of the market or $10 for each participating Saturday. To participate, contact the Chamber at 265-4383. The market assigns each vendor a location.

Vendors are welcome to set up every Saturday starting July 9 and running through Sept. 17. The market runs from 8 a.m. to noon at Town Square.
