Obituary - Scott Riggs

On Aug. 1, we lost a bright, beautiful soul. Scott Riggs, 47, died from injuries sustained in a vehicle accident near Big Sandy, Montana.

Scott was a loving father, son, brother and friend. He'd trained as a machinist, diesel mechanic and welder before becoming a third-generation plumber, obtained a master plumber's license, and was involved in many commercial buildings such as the Osprey stadium, University of Montana projects and a multitude of others. There is a piece of his hard work evident throughout Missoula.

He graduated from Big Sky High School and the college of technology, loved fishing, rock climbing and was an avid pool player.

He had a huge heart and was a wonderful father, son, brother and a true friend to many people. Much loved by all who knew him, he will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his daughters, Sarah and Laura Riggs; his parents, Barb and Bob Riggs; his sister, Leasha Riggs; two nieces, Rachel and Zoe Riggs, and two nephews, Benjamin and Thomas Riggs, of Missoula, as well as many extended family members.

An informal memorial service will be held on Aug. 20 at the Double Tree Hilton hotel at 100 Madison in Missoula from 1 to 5 p.m. Please join the family in celebrating the life of a beautiful man.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in Scott's name at Stockman Bank Missoula or any Stockman Bank branch, 406-258-1400.

Scott's family wishes to especially thank the Gullicksons for their help and support and the people from the Big Sandy Medical Center.
