Quick Pic: Bridge Dedication

Havre Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Debbie Vandeberg, Havre/Hill County Historic Preservation Commission member Keith J. Doll, John Wodarz' relative Jeff Hockett and Montana Department of Transportation Havre Maintenance Chief Matt Ladenburg pose for a photograph Tuesday at the dedication of the new sign on the John Wodarz Memorial Bridge that passes over the Milk River on Seventh Avenue North in North Havre. Wodarz, who moved to Havre in 1926 and worked for the Great Northern Railroad and farmed in the area, was instrumental in the construction of the bridge, completed in 1973. Wodarz, who devoted himslef to civic and community improvement projects in the area, particularly in North Havre, died in 1976, not long after he found the state had renamed the Milk River Bridge the John Wodarz Bridge. The new plaque was approved to replace a previous placque, which had disappeared from the bridge.
